Matt Unklesbay, Owner of Monty Construction
Matt Unklesbay started Monty Construction in 2002 with a simple commitment: do quality work, treat people honestly, and take pride in every detail.
A skilled craftsman with a meticulous and creative eye, Matt brings both precision and practicality to every project. He is known for being extremely hardworking, honest, and “salt of the earth” — the kind of person who shows up, follows through, and stands behind his work.
In addition to owning Monty Construction, Matt serves as a Minneapolis firefighter. On his four days off each week, he continues to do what he has always loved: building, creating, and helping homeowners bring their ideas to life.
Matt lives in Stillwater with his wife and two boys. Outside of work, he is an avid hunter, fisherman, and garlic farmer. His strong work ethic, steady character, and hands-on craftsmanship are at the heart of Monty Construction.
